Why Industry Standards are Good for You – The Professional and Ethical Stone Tradesperson

MarbleCleaning.org was created in part to advocate for and to take an active role in the creation of standards for the stone industry, which until today is still one of the few unregulated industries in the United States.

Because of this, consumers are not only faced with confusion, they are vulnerable to fraudulent and deceptive practices, such as current cases we are hearing about regarding doctored stone.

Certifying stones in accordance with established standards and mandated disclosure, would give consumers a consistent and trusted point of reference by which to compare one stone to another.

But, industry standards would protect not only the consumer, they would protect you. As a professional and ethical tradesperson, you want to offer your customers a quality product and service for a fair price. Without a clear definition (i.e. standards) you are left to compete with unscrupulous companies and individuals whose sole intent is simply to make a quick buck at any cost.

It is the mission of MarbleCleaning.org to take an active role in establishing these standards. Signing the initiative shows your support of these standards and gives MarbleCleaning.org more power to achieve the goal.
